If you are follower of my blogs, you know that I have been getting great results for my patients using Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, or PRP. PRP is great for joint problems and sport injuries.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is used in a number of aesthetic and anti-aging procedures. Now, it seems even our four-legged friends are benefiting from the remarkable healing powers of PRP.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy has been used on injured race horses. Injuries that used to result in retirement at best, and euthanasia at worst for these thoroughbreds, are now successfully being treated with PRP.
Just as PRP was first used in treating injured pro human athletes, and is now being used for every day folks, PRP is being used to help house pets!
Cats and dogs are benefiting from Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy. When you or I sprain a leg, or a wrist, we can pretty much recover with rest, ice to reduce swelling and inflammation, and elevating the injured limb. Try getting a dog or cat to do that! It’s not so easy!
Get ready to supercharge your life!
That is why PRP injections are very good for cats and dogs with such injuries.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
PRP is a kind of stem cell therapy. Platelet Rich Plasma is a healing injection that is made from your own blood. In the case of your pets, it would be made from their own blood.
The white and red cells are separated from the blood with a centrifuge. That process concentrates undifferentiated stem cells, and healing and growth factors in the “platelet rich plasma” that is left behind.
PRP contains many times the number of platelets and healing factors, than what would be found in an ordinary drop of blood.
When the PRP injections are used at the site of an injury for your cat or dog, just as in race horses or humans, it increases blood flow. PRP injections in cats or dogs will also safely stimulate regrowth of cells and connective tissue at the site of the injury.
This effect has been proven to accelerate the healing process in ligament or cartilage tears. These kinds of injuries are very common in cats and dogs.
In both human and veterinary medicine, Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is what we call a “biologic agent.” A biologic agent uses the body’s own processes to heal injuries or cure disease. That is as opposed to drugs, which use chemicals. Most biologic agents are based on “stem cell therapies.”
Stem cell treatments are becoming the foundations of the emerging practice of regenerative medicine for both humans, and our pets!
More PRP Treatments
I am happy to see that PRP is helping our companion animals live longer and better lives. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy has some additional benefits for us humans too, particularly for men.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy has proven to be the safest, and most effective surgery-free and drug-free treatment available for erectile dysfunction, or ED.
Just as in the healing of injuries in pets and humans, PRP also can be used to increase blood flow, and stimulate the growth of new cells to cure ED!
It is called the P-shot:
- The P-shot improves your ability to gain an erection
- The P-shot gives you stronger, longer and more sustainable erections
- The P-shot increases sensitivity
- The P-shot can correct Peyronie’s Disease
The P-shot for men is the only non-surgical ED treatment that will not only improve your ability to get and maintain an erection, but it can increase the length of your penis!
Have you or anyone you know ever tried any rejuvenative procedures, what were the results?
