Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese art. It combines elements of martial arts and yoga into a kind of “moving meditation.” Tai Chi has been done for centuries for exercise, for returning oneself to emotional, spiritual and physical balance.
Now, recent scientific studies suggest that the movements of Tai Chi, may also help get things moving in the bedroom!
Tai Chi literally translates into “the ultimate force.” In traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, Tai Chi is said to bring balance to your “Qi flow.” Qi, pronounced “chee” in TCM is your life force. TCM sees any and all disease as caused by imbalances or blockages of Qi.
How Tai Chi Improves Sexual Performance
I am not so sure about “improved Qi flow” being at the root of why Tai Chi can positively impact your sex life. But, I am not at all surprised that Tai Chi can lead to improved sexual function. Like yoga, meditation, rhythmic breathing, or any other stress reduction technique, lowering stress and anxiety has a positive effect on both sex drive and performance.
Furthermore, many of the movements of Tai Chi improve blood flow to the pelvic region, which can strengthen the pelvic muscles, and improve sexual function in both men and women. The movements increase flexibility over all, and a key factor of Tai Chi is to become more aware of your body, and sensation.
Both of these aspects as well, are directly related to improved sexual performance and ability.
Tai Chi also stresses control over, and more awareness of your breathing, which can also improve your performance in the bedroom. The breathing techniques of Tai Chi can be of particular help to men suffering from performance anxiety, and/or premature ejaculation.
So there are many reasons to do Tai Chi, or similar exercises if your sex life is not all that you wish it to be. I highly recommend Tai Chi, and similar techniques, not only to my patients with sexual wellness issues, but to all of my patients to reduce stress and improve overall health.
Other Ways to Improve Sexual Wellness
If you are experiencing trouble in the bedroom, certainly taking steps to reduce stress is one way to help. But sometimes there is more to sexual wellness issues than the daily grind. If stress reduction and exercises such as Tai Chi do not alleviate your problems, maybe some other intervention is required.
Did you know there are currently sexual wellness treatments available for both men and women that are all natural and completely drug free and surgery free? Have your heard of the P-shot for men, and the O-shot for women?
